Background in academia and professional development:

  • As a member of the faculty of the American Management Association facilitated programs as a course leader for Developing Executive Leadership, Critical Thinking, Strategic PlanningPerformance Management, Improving Your Project Management Skills, Information Systems Project Management, and The Art and Discipline of Managing Software Projects;


  • Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Strategic Management and Business Policy and Management and Organization Behavior (among others) as an Adjunct Professor at San Francisco State University, School of Business for twelve years where he was also the Director of the Center For Professional Development;


  • Taught New Venture Management, Economics for Managers, and Management as an Adjunct Professor at Dominican College of San Rafael;


  • Conducted executive management programs as a seminar leader at the University of California, Extended Education Programs on topics that included Reengineering and Benchmarking, Operations Management, and Corporate Ethics and Philanthropy. In addition, instructor for a graduate level course entitled Leading Organization Change.


  • Facilitated numerous on-site client training programs focused on organization, leadership, management, performance improvement, and project management, among other topics.


  • Certified by the Center for Leadership Studies as a trainer for the Situational Leadership Program;  and, Certified Mindex User for the Mindex Thinking Style Profile and related materials.



Mr. Athanasakos has also been an invited speaker on the subject of Project Management at the Annual Imaging and Records Management Forum sponsored by the Department of General Services, State of California.




  • Van is a cum laude graduate of New York University, School of Business and Public Administration where he majored in accounting and commercial law.


  • He also completed graduate work at New York University, Graduate School of Business Administration where he majored in management and economics.
